Five Reasons Why You Chose Occupational therapy

Firstly, I just wanted to share the brief story on how I discovered this academic course. To be honest, my first choice was dentistry, but seeing my family's financial problem and as well the future financial problems if I do pursue that course.  But a family friend influenced me to become an occupational therapist, with much research about what that career is, I immediately took an interest and as well how much of an in-demand job it can be in abroad or in here in the Philippines, and as well as the eye-catching salary of being an occupational therapist. But besides than gaining a lot of money because of it, here is my 5 reasons why I stayed in OT and why you should consider giving this course a chance!

1. Creativity will always be your best friend

In my experience being a student OT, you have to be capable and creative in your ways to treat a client. Since occupational therapy is a very client-centered medical care, you have to find ways that suits to the client's interest so that are willingly enough to do their tasks with motivation. Being creative with your abilities like finding ways to engage your client, making adaptive equipment, or solving problems with creativity. So being creative is a big factor in the field of occupational therapy, even if you are not confident with your abilities of being creative, rest assured that you will hone and develop your creativeness as you learn and grow.

2. Clients and friends!

If you enjoy interacting with people of all ages, this career will suit you! You will eventually develop a friendship with your clients because occupational therapy helps them self-motivate during each session and provides them with some insights. Letting you assist them and perhaps becoming friends with them as they recover. With this in mind, occupational therapists can better grasp their clients' needs and necessities and getting to know them, which would help them having a better grasp for future sessions.

3. Treating the diversity

it is quite often that occupational therapy mostly deals with children rather than adult (that's what I would always hear from others.) But in reality, occupational therapy provides service to any people of age, be it young children, teenagers, elderly people, and much more. It is not only limited as it deals with a lot of various of people with different needs, helping them to meet, develop and reach their goals to get back into daily living. As occupational therapists, it is their job to adapt to their clients' needs and their ways to approach to their intervention.

4. flexible in work opportunities

Based on my point on no.3 not only does occupational therapy can work with a wide range of patient populations, from young children to elderly people. But also work in a variety of healthcare settings, including clinics, hospitals, schools, home health, and even mental health facilities. This allows for career flexibility and a range of specializations based on client's interests and objectives. Another fun thing to know is that an occupational therapy can also be flexible in their work of time, as they set the schedules for their client's and mode of work.

5. A rewarding feeling

Being an occupational therapist is an incredibly rewarding profession, as it allows you to help clients facing a wide range of challenges, from physical disabilities to cognitive and emotional difficulties. You play a crucial role in guiding them through their healing journey, finding creative solutions to help them regain confidence and independence. Seeing a client progress, from struggling with daily tasks to reclaiming their abilities, is one of the most fulfilling aspects of the job. Your work not only improves their functional skills but also restores their sense of self-worth and purpose. The impact you make goes beyond therapy sessions, as you help individuals reintegrate into their daily lives with renewed hope. Every small victory, whether it's a regained skill or a newfound confidence, reminds you of the difference you make. Being part of someone's transformation is what makes this profession so meaningful.

The Role of Bias in Technical Writing

1.How can bias impact the credibility

and accuracy of a technical document?

Having biases when it comes to information and sources may be useful in writing a paper, but it is also important to acknowledge the fact that it may have certain information be flawed or not connected to the topic. Common mistakes like showing big preferences and pushing forward opinions, instead of properly citing the source and providing the truth. On the topic of providing the truth, if information is biased on some authors, it would lead to misleading readers and less reliable. As it easily influences readers or distracts the readers about the good parts as it completely ignores the down sides or problems.

2.What strategies can writers use

to avoid bias and maintain objectivity?

The first thing that comes to mind would be carefully reading the source material, making sure that each part is read and understood, in order to determine if it is credible or suitable of being known in order to benefit others. Another instance is to refrain from expressing your own opinions because technical papers are to be based on verified information, whereas opinions are based on personal beliefs rather than facts or statistics. Additionally, to make statements more credible, back them up with facts, studies, or professional sources rather than your own ideas. Letting others proofread or review your work would be a big help if there are any unintentional bias in your work, so it would be practical enough to help make sure the information is well written and sought out.

3. How do ethical considerations differ when writing

for various industries (e.g. Healthcare, technology, finance)?

Ethical considerations in writing vary across industries because each field has different responsibilities and risks. In healthcare, since patient safety and efficiency are of highest importance, medical records must be truthful and maintain patient confidentiality. Authors must make sure that data privacy is transparent, refrain from making false claims, and make information available to all users, in terms of technology.) To avoid dishonesty and preserve customer confidence, honesty and respect to rules are crucial in the financial industry. Maintaining dependability and reputation, ethical writing should always put accuracy, transparency, and fairness first, regardless of the industry.

                         💥AND LASTLY! 💥

❗❗❗NEVER PROCRASTINATE❗❗❗

I'm a Medical student! of course I manage my time-

Time management as a Med student

To be honest, I don't think I have a really healthy time management in my studies and to my hobbies, and most especially my health. I admit that I have a habit of cramming my academic tasks often, since I consider myself as a lazy person. However, preparing for quizzes and tests is what I can confirm that it is quite different from actually performing well. If I have a quiz or exam coming up next week, I would usually start studying right away or in advance rather than doing it very late or the last minute. I still remember during my first semester midterms, I studied my exam only the day before, and the result led me to realize that I should prioritize studying earlier instead of procrastinating if I want to have high marks on quizzes or tests. It sounds a bit of confusing that I have a much neater schedule when it comes to studying compared to doing activity tasks or assignments. There are quite many challenges that I have faced as a medical student, and yes, my greatest foe is time itself. I often get frustrated that whenever I'm bored, time is very slow, but when I am having fun, time flies fast. And especially when thinking getting rest, you have to think of the time and its benefits.

"Dang...studyhon diay nako nih tanan..."

Even if I may be horrible when it comes to my time management towards my studies, I manage to at least stay consistent onto one routine that I have developed to myself. And that is by motivating myself to study. Studying may be seen as a tiresome task to do, but at some point, in my life, I would often find myself enjoying studying and romanticizing studying. I would always go to the city library after lunch or much earlier than that hour, just so I can study there. The reason why I would much prefer to study in the city library instead of my house is because I feel more concentrated and find myself the motivation of studying the material. Whereas in my house, I would get easily exhausted and would take a very long break, which would then lead into me not continuing studying at all. Another practice is that I would listen to any upbeat pop songs that came out in the late or early 2000's and play it on loop, (I always listen to fire burning by Sean Kingston or insomnia by Craig David.) I don't listen to any relaxing music because it makes me sleepy or lose concentration quick and I am also not a fan of having multiple songs playing, as it also makes me distracted very easily, thus I prefer only having one song and play it on loop.

me trying to sleep be like:

As for my sleep schedule, it's still not good. Often times I would sleep early and wake up at 1 or 3 am just so that I could continue studying. But on regular days, I would sleep at 3 or 4 in the morning due to my very bad screentime and habits of studying very late. I also find sleeping difficult since I think I have insomnia and tried forcing myself to sleep sometimes, which sometimes makes me more stressed later when I wake up. So as of the moment, I am still trying to sleep early and minimize my screentime more, so that I could have enough energy and rest for the next day.
